CLASSICO, CHE PASSIONE! Italian Virtuoso Pianist At Caldwell College Thursday, May 10, 2007
For once, you don’t need to take a painful drive to New York major music halls to hear a memorable concert! A pianist of the highest caliber, Gennaro Pesce, will perform at The Alumni Theatre, Caldwell College, 9 Ryerson Avenue, Caldwell on Thursday, May 31 at 7:00 PM. The classical concert is being held in collaboration with The Italian Club of Caldwell College.
Gennaro Pesce, a favorite pupil of the late Maestro Vincenzo Vitale (teacher of the legendary Michele Campanella), graduated at a very young age from the Conservatory S. Cecilia in Rome, with summa cum laude and honors. Gennaro continued his studies with Franco Scala at the Accademia Pianistica in Imola, expanding his expressive techniques and musical versatility. In Imola, Gennaro played with Gerard Oppitz, Paolo Bordoni, Nikita Magaloff, Jorg Demus and Alexander Lonquich. He continued then to hone his technique with Laura De Fusco in Naples, with Piero Rattalino in Pescara and with Aldo Ciccolini in Milan. He deepened his knowledge of chamber music with Sergio Perticaroli, who had him as a student at the Mozarteum in Salisburg, Austria. In the meantime, Gennaro successfully participated in several national and international competitions.
His virtuoso repertoire blends an incredible, breathtaking technique and a savvy control of the instrument. Among his innumerable concerts, the most memorable were: Palazo Schifanoia in Ferrara, Villa Pignatelli in Naples, Teatro delle Erbe in Milan, Teatro Marcello in Rome, Teatro Communale in Cagliari, Teatro Marrucino in Chieti, Teatro Massimo of native Pescara, Villa Walton in Ischia and again in Rome at the Auditorio di Via della Conciliazione and the Sala Accademica di S.Lucia in Gonfalone and more in Sorrento, Gaeta, Catania, Terni, Sassari, Treviso ed all’estero in Francia, Austria, Polonia and Greece.
Gennaro’s elegant performances are frequently aired by RAI and Radio Vaticana. He has recorded a few CDs. Among them is one of Anton Rubinstein’s pieces, recorded when he was only thirteen years old.
You will not want to miss this classical concert with an absolutely magnificent repertoire. The program will include a selection of Liszt, Brahms and Chopin pieces. It is free and open to the public. Reservations are a must: call The Center at (973) 571-1995 or (973) 571-1116. Please reserve early, as space is limited.
